What affects the price
5 Things That Decide Your Channel Letter Cost
1. Number of letters
You pay per letter, so a short name costs less than a long one. Spaces are free. Shortening “Smith Family Dental Care” to “Smith Dental” cuts the letter count, and the price, by about half.
2. Letter height
Taller letters cost more because they use more aluminum, acrylic and LEDs. Size letters for your viewing distance: a common sign industry rule of thumb is about 1 inch of letter height for every 10 feet, so letters read from a 120-foot parking lot work best at around 12 inches or taller.
3. Lighting style
Standard front lit letters are the most affordable. Back lit and dual lit letters add light aimed at the wall, and halo lit, reverse lit and trimless letters use welded stainless steel faces or returns, which costs more but gives a premium look. Compare them in the table above.
4. Power supply and raceway
Lit letters need a power supply ($90.00 for a standard one). A raceway ($50.00 per foot) is optional: it mounts all the letters on one metal box, which means fewer holes in your wall and an easier move later.
5. Installation and permits
Your sign ships ready to install with a wiring diagram and installation pattern, so the remaining costs are local: a sign installer, an electrician to connect power where required, and your city’s sign permit. Ask your landlord for any shopping center sign criteria before you order.

Pricing questions
Channel Letter Cost FAQ
How much do channel letters cost?
Our channel letters start at $133.20 for one 8 inch front lit letter with our 10% online discount. A typical 8-letter business name in front lit letters costs about $1,362.60 at 12 inches tall and $3,522.60 at 24 inches tall, including a standard power supply, before shipping. Halo lit and trimless styles cost more per letter.
Why are channel letters priced per letter?
Each letter is built to order as its own lit sign, with its own face, returns and LEDs, so the cost grows with the number of letters and their height. Taller letters use more material and more LEDs, which is why price climbs with height.
Do I need to buy a power supply?
Lit channel letters need a power supply to run the LEDs. A standard power supply is $90.00 and is selected automatically when you enter your wording; choose No only if your installer is supplying one.
How much does a raceway cost?
A raceway is optional on standard front lit, back lit and front and back lit letters and costs $50.00 per foot. It mounts all the letters as one unit, so fewer holes go into your building.
How much is shipping for channel letters?
Standard shipping on a channel letter order is $50.00 anywhere we ship in the USA. Faster 3-day, 2-day and overnight options are shown at checkout.
Does the price include installation?
No. Your sign ships tested and ready to install, with an installation pattern and a wiring diagram, and is installed by your local sign installer. In most areas the electrical connection must be made by a licensed electrician or sign contractor, and most cities require a sign permit, so ask local installers to quote both.
What is the cheapest type of channel letter?
Standard front lit letters with a trimcap are the most affordable lit style, and smaller letters cost less. If your budget is tight, keep the wording short and choose the smallest height that can be read from the street.
